BABY CLINIC 
The clinic is held every Thursday 9.00am - 12.30pm. Child heath surveillance services are run in accordance with Health Authority guidelines and your child will be sent for to attend for their regular recommended immunisations. 

ANTENATAL CARE
This is provided by the doctors. After being seen by the doctor, patients should contact the Alexandra Hospital for a midwife appointment on 01527 488141.

FAMILY PLANNING (Sr Isabel Hyde)
Advice on all forms of contraception for all ages is available from doctors and nurses, including the insertion of IUCDs (coils), fitting of caps and the prescription of the “morning-after pill”. A family planning clinic is held on Mondays 2.00 - 5.30pm by appointment.

DIABETIC CLINIC (Sr Theresa Fowler)
A weekly clinic is held every Wednesday morning 8.30 - 11.30am. All diabetic patients will be called upon at least on an annual basis for review. Eye care and foot care can also be arranged.

ASTHMA CLINIC (Sr Nichola Mushen)
A regular weekly clinic is held where all asthmatic patients are encouraged to attend for an annual review. Patients need to telephone the surgery for an appointment.

COPD CLINIC (CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE)  (Sr Linda Clarke)

Regular weekly clinics are held.  All COPD patients will be invited to attend at least once a year and will be invited for a spirometry test beforehand.

ANTI-COAGULANT CLINIC (INR/Warfarin) (Sr Nichola Mushen)
A clinic is held every Monday and Thursday to take blood tests of patients on
anti-coagulant drugs.

CARDIOVASCULAR (Heart) CLINIC (Sr Sarah Follis)
Regular weekly clinics are held. All patients will be requested to attend for review at least once per year. Newly diagnosed patients or those following surgery will be contacted by the lead nurse.

Blood pressure can be monitored using the self-help test area in the waiting room.  Please hand blood pressure results to reception to be entered into your records.

WOMEN'S CLINIC (Sr Anne Roberts)
This is held weekly. Patients will automatically be called for their smear test every three to five years, or sooner if necessary.

TRAVEL CLINIC (Srs Anne Roberts and Linda Clarke)
A regular weekly clinic is held for patients who are planning an overseas holiday and need advice and/or vaccinations for the destination of choice. A travel questionnaire and basic information is available from the surgery, and telephone consultations with the travel nurse are encouraged before booking an appointment.

MINOR SURGERY
All the doctors are qualified to do minor surgery. They may give various soft tissue and joint injections when indicated and run wart clinics.

CRYO CLINIC (Sr Christine Cross)
This clinic is held regularly at the New Road Surgery, for the removal of warts, skin tags etc. You will need to be referred by the doctor to this clinic.

PHYSIOTHERAPY
There is an NHS physiotherapy clinic in the surgery. You may be referred there or to the hospital, depending on your problem. Private physiotherapy is provided by the Taft Physiotherapy Practice.

OTHER SERVICES

Counsellor
We have a Relate Counsellor who will help with relationship problems and who is also experienced in general counselling work.

Social Worker
The practice has an attached social worker who works with the over 65 year old population.

MINOR INJURIES SERVICE
At the Princess of Wales Community Hospital, there is a minor injuries service with GPs in attendance. It is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm from Monday to Friday and 12 noon - 8.00pm Saturday and Sunday. Patients should attend this unit for minor injuries and the A&E Department at Alexandra Hospital of Redditch with more serious injuries.

RESEARCH
The practice has been involved with many research projects with the Medical Research Council and Birmingham University. You may be asked to help in a research project if it seems appropriate. However, it will not cause offence if you decline. We supply anonymous data to medical research organisations.

NON-NHS MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
The doctors undertake, for a fee, medical examinations for insurance, employment, HGV and PSV licences and for other purposes which are not part of the NHS. These examinations are booked outside normal surgery times, usually in the middle of the day.

Vaccination Schedule

At two months old:

• Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) (DTaP/IPV/Hib) - one injection
• Pneumococcal infection - pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) - one injection

At three months old:

• Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) (DTaP/IPV/Hib) - one injection
• Meningitis C (meningococcal group C) (MenC) - one injection

At four months old:

• Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) (DTaP/IPV/Hib) - one injection
• Meningitis C (meningococcal group C) (MenC) - one injection
• Pneumococcal infection - pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) - one injection

At around 12 months old:

• Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) and meningitis C (Hib/MenC) - booster dose in one injection

At around 13 months old:

• Measles, mumps and rubella (German measles) (MMR) - one injection
• Pneumococcal infection - pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) - one injection

Three years four months to five years old (pre-school):

• Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough) and polio (dTaP/IPV or DTaP/IPV) - one injection
• Measles, mumps and rubella (German measles) (MMR) - one injection

13 to 18 years old:

• Diphtheria, tetanus and polio (Td/IPV) - one injection

Travel Information

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.  This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.  There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Most travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because travel vaccination is not included in the services provided by the NHS and therefore is a chargeable service.
